2018 Monster 821

The Monster 821 2018 evolves into more sophisticated terrain and brings a revised aesthetic into play without losing its Monster essence at all. In fact, it reaffirms its character with an evocative muscular but at the same time more stylized staging than the previous generation, adopting elements from the Monster 1200. New tank and tail play a fundamental role in this metamorphosis that also integrates a new headlight and silencer. One detail is that it retrieves the classic anodized aluminum fixing clip for the fuel tank.

Description

The Monster 821 2018 evolves into more sophisticated terrain and brings a revised aesthetic into play without losing its Monster essence at all. In fact, it reaffirms its character with an evocative muscular but at the same time more stylized staging than the previous generation, adopting elements from the Monster 1200. New tank and tail play a fundamental role in this metamorphosis that also integrates a new headlight and silencer. One detail is that it retrieves the classic anodized aluminum fixing clip for the fuel tank.

One of the new notable elements is the new, more colorful and information-rich TFT instrumentation that solves two weak points of its predecessor by offering a gear indicator and fuel level indicator. Its appearance is configurable and changes when we select one mode or another of driving.

As for the engine, it offers 109 HP of declared maximum power, a figure more than enough for a sporty and fun motorcycle that really does not need more since the character of the Testastretta 11º water-cooled has a very temperamental character, especially at low and half rpm. Its 86 Nm at 7,750 rpm demonstrate this.

Electronics is an important aspect in the Monster 821 that offers on the one hand the Ducati Safety Pack that integrates the Bosch 9.1 MP ABS with three adjustable levels of intervention, as well as the traction control that offers eight levels to adapt it to the taste of the pilot . In addition, it allows to regulate the power and the throttle response thanks to the three driving modes: sport, touring and urban (power reduced to 75 hp). These modes are user configurable at the level of traction control and ABS intervention to give them their own character.

In the cycle part, the Brembo monobloc M4-32 radial calipers stand out. The 43mm Kayaba upside down fork is non-adjustable while the rear monoshock can be adjusted for preload and rebound.

It maintains its curious system for adjusting the seat in height (785-810 mm) and is prepared to be able to mount the bidirectional shifter as an optional accessory to help in the tasks of changing when raising and lowering relationships, which by the way incorporates a servo system that operations on the handle very smooth. And of course it has a slipper clutch.
