Description

The Ducati Panigale V4 is a sports car that derives directly from the MotoGP Desmosedici, a very technologically advanced motorcycle with an explosive engine capable of yielding 214 hp. This novelty from 2018 is located in the upper echelon within the Italian brand’s sports catalog, replacing the iconic 1299 Panigale, the last great supersport with a two-cylinder L engine. The Panigale V4 range is completed with the S and Speciale, much more equipped.

The propellant that launches the Panigale V4 is, as its name indicates, a four-cylinder in V at 90º with desmodromic distribution, maintaining the same stroke measurement as that of the cylinders of MotoGP motorcycles -81 mm- although it cubes somewhat more these : 1,103 cc. The maximum power -214 hp at 13,000 rpm- marks a new milestone in the 1,000 sports segment, although from Ducati it is ensured that it is a very easy to ride motorcycle, with a lot of power at low and medium speed and with intervals Very high maintenance – valve adjustment is performed every 24,000 km and oil changes every 12,000 km. Engine performance can be increased to 226 hp by mounting a titanium Akrapovic exhaust developed for this particular model.

The new engine is very light, less than 65 kg, just 2.2 kg heavier than the previous 1286 cc two-cylinder of the previous model and uses technology similar to that of MotoGP, such as the counter-rotating crankshaft with which the effect is compensated gyroscopic of the wheels and allows greater agility in curves and greater traction., the Twin Pulse ignition -more smoothness and sound similar to that of the competition bike-, variable intake system, semi-dry sump lubrication and six-speed gearbox gears equipped with a rotary speed sensor with which the best possible operation of the Ducati Quick Shift is achieved.

The Panigale V4 is equipped with truly advanced electronics, inherited from all the experience gained in the MotoGP and Superbike world championships. The electronic package uses a 6-axis IMU and is in charge of controlling all the starting, acceleration and braking phases, depending on the three Riding Modes -Race, Sport and Street- that the pilot can easily select through the buttons located on the left pineapple. The electronic aids are the following:

  • ABS Cornering Bosch EVO
  • Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO)
  • Ducati Slide Control (DSC)
  • Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC EVO)
  • Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
  • Ducati Quick Shift up/down EVO (DQS EVO)
  • Engine Brake Control EVO (EBC EVO)

Electronics management is displayed on the 5 “high resolution TFT screen. The virtual circular rev counter dominates the central part of the screen which varies in color depending on the engine speed. There are two screen designs, Track and Road, each showing different information Thanks to the Ducati Multimedia System, the motorcycle can be connected to the smartphone.
