The Aprilia Dorsoduro represents the quintessential fun bike. Born from the brilliant intuition of Aprilia, it has been designed with the sole objective of offering the maximum possible fun in road driving, delivering the best characteristics of the sports bike and the best characteristics of the Supermotard.

The result is a motorcycle with advanced technical solutions, agile and with features at the top of the category. A truly special motorcycle achieved not only thanks to Aprilia’s competitiveness in manufacturing the cycling part, particularly effective in combination with a high-performance engine, but also through the collaboration obtained from the Aprilia Competition Department, capable of conquering 54 world titles in the most difficult and selective competitions in which he has participated, seven of them in the Supermoto world championship.

The design: Point of balance between forms and functions

The Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 project puts the pilot’s fun in the spotlight: for this reason the bodywork has been reduced to the bare minimum, everything that is not necessary is omitted to achieve the best possible performance and maximum pleasure from pilotage. Instead, the technical elements capable of guaranteeing that objective in their design play a determining factor. It is not just the lever protectors or the number plate on the headlight that bring this model to the world of competition.

The shapes of the central area, which guarantee the pilot’s movements during sporty driving, show the studies carried out to obtain the most compact dimensions possible, which allow the pilot to immediately find the best sensations.

The Aprilia technicians have achieved these results by projecting a very long and flat saddle with clear sporty reminiscences, always ensuring the most effective riding position and achieving the best possibilities for longitudinal positioning of the rider.

The tail is one of the most representative aesthetic aspects of the Dorsoduro: slim and sinuous, it accommodates the double exhaust terminal, a solution that allows excellent symmetry of proportions and weight distribution.

New electronic management

Electronic engine management is entrusted to the new and more powerful Marelli 7SM control unit that connects to the new fully Ride-by-wire electronic throttle system fully integrated into the throttle control. The latter allows even finer management of the air / gasoline mixture and the opening of the injection throttles, depending on numerous parameters, including engine speed, gear position, air flow, opening ( quantity and speed) of the throttle control and temperature, with great benefits in terms of fluidity in driving, absence in the holes when opening and closing the throttle, containment of emissions and fuel consumption.

The engine is therefore always in a position to deliver the ideal torque and offer the best performance in both acceleration and recovery, so they are all advantages in driving that is always fun. The system also saves 550 grams of weight compared to the previous Ride-by-Wire that equipped the Dorsoduro 750.

The sophisticated electronic management also offers the possibility of modifying the engine map, radically changing the character in the delivery to the asphalt of the power that it is capable of developing. Sport mode offers an immediate and aggressive throttle response; the most logical Touring allows a smoother delivery, ideal for tourism and even for everyday use, while the Rain map is ideal in case the weather conditions are difficult or the asphalt has little adherence.

The Dorsoduro 900 introduces a new Aprilia traction control, adjustable in three levels and disconnectable, which limits the sliding of the rear wheel by intervening on the ignition and injection throttle.

The traction control of the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 is combined with a two-channel Continental ABS system designed and tuned to never interfere with the fun of sporty driving.

The new electrical system communicates the engine management and control system with the new color TFT digital instrumentation. This compact unit with a 4.3-inch screen contains a lot of information, which is always very readable thanks to the ability to adapt the background and the colors of the characters depending on the natural light conditions captured by a light sensor.

Among the options is the AMP (Aprilia Multimedia Platform) installation kit that connects the Aprilia with the Smartphone, providing an exceptional amount of useful information on the move; The new instrumentation allows to display directly on the screen all the data related to incoming calls or in progress, and other information related to the use of the intercom or any audio reproduction system.

More features for the renewed V2 of the rinnovato V2

Based on the 750 cc 90 ° V twin cylinder engine, known and appreciated for its character and reliability, Aprilia has developed a new 900 cc unit. with the main objective of achieving more torque and speed of response at low and medium revs, to achieve an increase in sensations. Aprilia’s V2 has been overhauled in numerous ways to achieve this end.

The new displacement is achieved by increasing the stroke from 56.4 mm to 67.4 mm, leaving the diameter (92 mm) unchanged. Thus, the maximum power reaches 70 kW (92.5 hp) at 8,750 rpm, but the most important data is the maximum torque, which goes from 8.4 kgm (82 Nm) to 4,500 rpm of the 750 cc V2 at 9.17 kgm (90 Nm) at 6,500 rpm for the new 900 cc V2, the latter being one of the highest in the category.

It should be noted that, despite the maximum torque limit of the new 900 cc V2. reached at a higher rotational speed, the torque curve is actually flatter and always higher than 750 c.c. previous.

This modification has increased the speed of response in acceleration and response, an advantage for driving fun, without minimally limiting the proverbial reliability of the engine, which now benefits from a new internal lubrication circuit capable of limiting power loss. and fuel consumption. The exhaust system, equipped with a double lambda probe helps to allow the entire thermodynamic group to adapt to the new Euro 4 Regulation. Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 is also available in the limited version of 35 kW, ideal for those who are accessing the A2 card for the first time.
