Description
Ego Booster
The Panigale V4, stripped of its fairings and with a high and wide handlebar. In summary, this is the underlying concept of the new Streetfighter V4, a motorcycle that increases the excitement of the trip every time it hits the road. The result? An unparalleled naked with cutting-edge technology and an impressive design that oozes pure performance.
Joker face
The minimalist full-LED headlamp perfectly captures the spirit of the Streetfighter V4. On the one hand, it recalls the front of the Panigale V4 and, on the other, it evokes the crazy smile of the Joker (the comic character that the Ducati Style Center was inspired by for this new naked built in Bologna). Already incorporated into the Panigale V4 and SuperSport, the V-shaped DRL is another Ducati hallmark.
Ducati Corse Biplane Wings
Fast and agile performance on the road demands maximum stability at high speed and when braking, reduction of the wheels during acceleration and minimized electronic control in the suspension configuration: that’s why the Ducati Corse specialists, together with the Ducati Style Center, they have developed biplane wings for the Streetfighter V4.
Aerodynamics was developed using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation. The calculation method involved stationary flow and pressure simulation to achieve higher downforce, especially on the front wheel.
To reduce lateral bump as much as possible, the aerodynamics team decided to adopt a limited ‘wingspan’ biplane configuration with independently operating top and bottom wings. Each appendage can be described as a square-plan mono-wing with a fin on its outer tip. In addition, the wings have been positioned as close to the front wheel as possible (near the radiator side panels) to maximize the anti-tip effect.
These aerodynamic appendages generate 28 kg of downforce at 270 kph (20 kg at the front wheel, 8 kg at the rear). The wings also help extract heat from the engine by increasing the flow rates of the oil and water radiator by 2% and 10% respectively.
The downforce generated by the wing mitigates the front wheel “buoyancy” at high speed and the tendency to climb. It also improves stability during cornering and cornering braking.
Aerodynamics give confidence and limit the intervention of electronic controls. This helps the driver keep the throttle open longer and brake later in corners, providing significant performance benefits.
Airbox
The compact headlight is embedded in a meticulously designed double-layer fairing incorporating the air filter and LED cooling intakes; a rear deflector, on the other hand, stops the flows that impact the tank directly.
Front frame
In the new Streetfighter, the front chassis and Desmosedici Stradale engine take center stage. Only partially protected by superstructures that have been cut to a minimum, their sharp lines create a clean and essential whole. The low, fired front flows from the tank, giving the Streetfighter the appearance of a coiled predator ready to pounce.
In keeping with streetfighter culture, the handlebar has been replaced by a tall, wide bar that, coupled with a moderate footrest position, makes the driving position sporty yet nimble, perfect for starting the road.
