Description

Undoubtedly, the new 650DS is going to become Voge’s most desired model, not only for its attractive Trail Adventure aesthetics, high level of equipment or top quality components, but also for using a mythical engine in the 650 cc displacement: the same one used by BMW for its legendary trail G650 GS. The new model will arrive in Voge points of sale next July at an extraordinary price in launch promotion and with 3 years warranty, now is the time to reserve your unit!

Loncin, the parent company to which Voge belongs as a premium brand of the group, became known worldwide for receiving the trust of the German BMW to produce the 650 cc single-cylinder engine that has powered its legendary G650 GS trail (initially known as F650 GS). Originally, this powerplant was developed and produced by the Austrian firm Rotax, but since 2007 the manufacturing was moved to the Chongqing factory.

This engine not only achieved fame for its robustness and mechanical reliability, but also for having won two Paris-Dakar rallies in the 1999 and 2000 editions by the French rider Richard Sainct, demonstrating its excellent all-terrain qualities in the BMW prototype. This engine was also used by Aprilia in its Pegaso 650 and BMW in many variants of the F/G650. It is a compact single cylinder of 652 cc with liquid cooling and double overhead camshaft cylinder head (DOHC) acting on its 4 valves. For the new use given to the Voge 650DS, Loncin has limited its power to 47.5 hp at 6,750 rpm, just within the 35 kW limit allowed for A2 license holders, offering a generous maximum thrust of 60 Nm at 5,500 rpm, and all in compliance with Euro 5 anti-pollution homologation.

The new Voge 650DS using this engine uses a diamond-shaped trellis frame with removable rear subframe to facilitate mechanical accessibility, placing the rider’s seat in its central area in a very low position at a height of 820 mm (with the possibility of optionally requesting one at 850 mm) to allow him to easily reach the ground, essential when leaning on ‘off road’ areas of great difficulty such as trialeras or sections of loose stones. This frame is complemented by side fenders and a protective plate that covers the lower part of the exhaust pipe and the engine crankcases against the typical impacts of off-road riding.

Aesthetically very functional and attractive forms have been achieved in the ‘Adventure’ style with an anatomical tank with capacity for 18 liters of fuel that extends forward forming a front “duck beak” on which rests the headlight with dual Full LED optics and a windshield adjustable in height through a knob.

Behind the rider’s seat, the passenger’s seat is raised to a greater height, ending in a flat-surface luggage rack with integrated side handles. The exhaust is raised on the left side ending in a stainless steel muffler.

The 650DS cycle part is completed with suspensions provided by the Japanese brand Kayaba entrusting the front with an inverted fork with 41 mm section bars and 180 mm of travel, while the rear is occupied by an oil-pneumatic shock absorber with connecting rods (variable progressivity).

To reinforce its country performance without sacrificing a combined mixed use on the road, 19 and 17-inch wheels are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR (DSX) and Metzeler Tourance (DS) tires, an excellent choice for this dual use. The wheels are 10-spoke light alloy on the Voge 650DS and spoked on the DSX version.

Continuing with this cast of high quality components, the Voge 650DS entrusts the braking system to the prestigious Japanese brand Nissin. Two 298 mm floating discs with dual-piston calipers are used on the front wheel, while a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper is used on the rear wheel. These brakes are completed with an ABS modulator with two independent channels that, with off-road use in mind, has a switch to disconnect it next to the left switchgear.

The instrument panel, based on a large TFT color display with twilight sensor that automatically switches to a white or black background depending on the exterior lighting, is not sparing either. The information included is the most complete in its category, highlighting the indication of consumption, voltmeter, tire pressure with deflation alarm, graphic levels of coolant and fuel temperature, graphic lap counter, time clock, and Bluetooth connection to the cell phone displaying incoming calls on the screen.
