Description
The new version of the V-Strom 1000 makes some small aesthetic changes and maintains the electronics of the version launched in 2014, although improved to adapt to Euro 4 regulations. The line followed by Suzuki with its maxi trail is contrary to that of others brands, with increasingly larger and heavier models, while the Japanese want their V-Strom to be light and manageable, as well as comfortable and easy to use. In fact, it achieves its maximum torque figure at 4,000 rpm and, like the V-Strom 650, the “thousand” version has the clutch assistant when driving with the engine running low, which indicates the Japanese concern about making things easy for their drivers.
The engine of the V-Strom 1000 maintains the smoothness of the previous model, with the three modes of traction control (one of them for off-road driving), while the electronics have taken a qualitative leap with the new Bosch ABS system corner braking that is regulated with the IMU.
The suspensions are at a good level, both the fork and the shock, both Kayaba, are fully adjustable. The 43mm diameter inverted fork adjusts for compression and preload; the shock absorber has rebound and preload regulation, a task that can be carried out without the need for tools. In the brakes section we find radial Tokico monoblock calipers. The front discs are floating 310 mm.
The instrumentation is dominated by an analog tachometer with two LCD screens on its right with the most complete information. Everything is protected by the new screen, higher than the previous one, and which can be raised and lowered, in addition to varying the angle of inclination in three positions.
