Description
More power, more fun, more torque, more sensations. The result? A motorcycle that is not afraid to face large displacement supercars, thanks to its exceptional handling, its sophisticated electronic management and naturally its new 800 motor, with 148 HP of power and 88 Nm of maximum torque. Its weight stands at 173 kg. another milestone that is decisive in its piloting.
The MV Agusta F3 675 has redefined the concept of mid-sports: a perfect combination of cycling, efficiency on the road or on the track, and the engine, the emblem of Italian high-tech. Now the MV Agusta F3 800 represents the limit of a mid-displacement sports car and the level of a Superbike replica, revolutionizing the segment with a motorcycle that directly becomes a cornerstone in terms of technological evolution and the benefits obtained.
The MV Agusta F3 800 is clearly slim and light, it is very attractive from the first glance. It takes the same base as the 675, and therefore the dimensions and weight of the new 800 are identical on both bikes. The master lines are marked by a striking multi-tube chassis, and by the superb single-arm swingarm that characterizes all MV Agusta. The solution of the triple exhaust outlet on the right side, gives it an unmatched personality. Ergonomically it is a very well designed motorcycle, in which the rider and passenger will always find that it fits them like a glove.
MV Agusta can boast with this engine, being a magnificent example of automotive engineering, extremely compact and light (weighing only 52 kg.). It is based on a “Close Deck” concept made of cast iron, integrating the water and oil circuits inside, in addition to internally housing their respective pumps, with the consequent advantages in terms of aesthetics and size reduction. Among the peculiarities of the MV Agusta F3 800 engine, it is worth noting the turning of the crankshaft in the opposite direction to the advance of the motorcycle, a technical solution that prior to the existence of the F3, was only used in MotoGP. The objective? Reduce inertias in direction changes, achieve a more balanced engine, which translates into the providential handling of the F3.
The three-cylinder MV Agusta project has brought the most sophisticated electronics into the mid-sports segment. The MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) platform combines fully electronic throttle and throttle body management with traction control. The “Full Ride By Wire” electronic gas control is an essential part of the MVICS: The system allows the ideal value of the throttle body opening to be measured at all times, decoupling this parameter from the angle of rotation of the throttle grip. The injection and ignition maps are configured depending on the optimal parameters to obtain the best performance. In addition, the MVICS includes 4 management curves, one of them fully customizable, and traction control with 8 adjustment levels.
The F3 800 gives the option of fine tuning the suspensions, both spring preload and hydraulic compression and extension of both trains. The front fork is a 43mm inverted Marzocchi fork. with 125 mm. of travel while behind is a Sachs with an aluminum body of the same travel. The brake set is equally impressive, with a kit of calipers with four radial-mount pistons in the front axle signed by Brembo, biting into large 320mm discs. Behind it is a single 220mm disc. with two-piston caliper from the same house, but while in the front caliper the pistons are 32 mm. at the rear they are 34 mm.
